The RED (rapid exit device) enables commandos to simultaneously exit whilst up to 350 feet above the ground. The primary cable can hold up to 600 pounds of weight, enough for a fully equiped stretcher and medic. The winch is operated by a control device on the wall, is regularly used in operations at sea.
