Latest Operation - Night Raids in Banhadel

Throughout the last week, the 5th Brigade Commandos have been raiding various enemy outposts on the outskirts of Banhadel. So far, reports show that several hundred pounds of explosives and many LSWs and mortar guns have been seized.

17 men have also been detained, in relationship to the seized arsenal. The operation was a total success and carried out at night under a veil of secrecy in order to make the surprise attack success full.

This is the latest operation in a series of events which have unfolded in and around the city. Last week, 34 armed Commandos were sent to the area to deal with unruly protesters who were setting fire to cars and attempting to enter the British embassy there.

Lieutenant Major Donald Hartritch commented, "We were totally reliant on the element of surprise, and knowledge of us being there would have destroyed the raids. I am impressed with the work which the did, and the way in which the operation was executed".

The raids were also an excellent opportunity to practise using the recently introduced G.P.S.U., which allows far better control and positioning for navigational purposes than the old G.P.S. system.

"The lads still need to get more practice with the system, but I can see that it's uses will be greatly need by all."
